Nieuport Scout (oz3146)
About this Plan
Nieuport Scout (Nieuport 17C-1). Free flight scale model fighter for .5 - .8 cc engines. From Model Aircraft, February 1958.
Quote: "A mount of the Aces! PMH Lewis's Nieuport Scout. A free-flight model for .5 - .8cc engines.
Firm favourite as a fighting mount with many World War I ace pilots, the Nieuport 17C-I is just as popular 40 years later with modellers.
The plans are for .5 - .8 cc engines and the form or construction ensures a speedily-built and strong model which will last a long time.
Fuselage Take a sheet of medium-grade 1/16 balsa and trace the sides on to it either pricking through the outline or using carbon paper below the plan. Score vertically, level with the cockpit, and cement over the angle after bending the sides to the plan view; 3/32 in sheet is used for the formers F1 to 16 which are cemented in place from F1 to the rear when the sides have set firmly at the sternpost.
One piece of 18G wire is used to form the undercarriage vees which are mounted in place by binding and gluing to 3/16 x 3/16 in cross braces. At the same time, the 18G wire centre-section struts are fitted..."

ScaleType: This (oz3146) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nieuport_17
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
