About this Plan

Perfidio. Free flight power model. Pylon design, 29 motor shown.

Quote: "Thirty Minute 'Perfidio' by Gary Christiansen.

The Perfidio uses a 614 square inch wing with a G-610 section. The stab is 45%, flat-bottomed, and 9% thick. The wing is set at 4.5 and the stab at 3.2. This angular difference of only 1.3 is not at all critical. The undercambered section and the 45% stab moment coupled with a very tight glide turn bring the ship out of a stall very nicely.

The chief values of the sheet construction used in the present Perfidio lie in its rigidity and comparative freedom from warps. The only possible drawback is the weight, but when reasonable care in selecting balsa is exercised, weight compares favorably with more standard construction. After nearly a year of flying our Perfidio weighs just 32 ounces, liberally waxed.

The only thing at all out of the ordinary about the fuselage construction is the quasi-cabin wing mount. After the formers are in place, install the carved and hollowed cabin block. Add the sub-table and rear fairing. Then glue in the 1/16 x 3/8 stringers and sheet the assembly with fairly soft 1/16 sheet, feathering forward portion into cabin block.

Finally, install the wing table and the wing mount lip cut from soft 1/16 sheet. Be careful to get a perfect matching between the lip and the wing undercamber. Just hack down the lip until it fits. We liked to fillet quite heavily with Aero-Gloss plastic balsa wherever pos-sible, but that is a matter of personal taste. In covering the fuselage a light Nylon was used, which doped on very nicely."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
