In this series of models, the fuselage is built on the Basic Stringer system for scale models with rounded fuselages, which method ensures that the fuselage is straight and without a twist. A good flat board should be chosen to work upon, and the drawing pinned down and covered with grease proof paper to prevent the work sticking to the plan.

The formers are first cut out, and where the top or bottom portion is in two halves these two halves should be placed upon their respective out-line, and cemented together ; care being taken to see that they conform exactly to the drawing.

The Basic Stringers are laid down on the drawing and pinned in their correct position, and the bottom half of each former cemented into place upside down. Add the keel, and complete the stringers. Make sure the keel is straight, and if not, correct it now before the cement has time to set. Where the model is of the low wing type, the main, centre section wing ribs can now be added, seeing that they are dead square with each other. This will ensure the wing assembly being correct.

Before lifting the complete half fuselage from the board it may be advisable to add a few diagonal braces from the Basic Stringers to the keel to make all rigid. These can be taken out afterwards.

Lift the bottom half of the fuselage from the board, and add the top halves of the various formers, and complete by fitting the stringers.

Although the slots for the stringers are shown on the balsa, you may. have to correct them slightly on assembly so that the stringers have graceful flowing lines.

Flat sided fuselages are built up one side at a time, flat on a board, the longerons being; held in place with pins, and spacers glued in. The second side should be built using the same pin Mies as the first. These two sides are then placed on their backs, side by side on the plan, and the horizontal spacers put in. Keep the sides upright and square with the aid of a set-square, and put in any gussets shown.

The wing panels can now be constructed. Cement the leading edge, trailing edge, and wing tip together on the plan for each panel. The ribs are then fitted into their respective slots in the spars and cemented to the leading and trailing edges. Be sure to make one right hand panel and one left hand, and that the leading and trailing edges are quite straight and parallel with one another.

Each wing panel can now be cemented in place, making sure that they 3,re both square with one another, and that the dihedral or angle they make with the fuselage is exactly the same. Let the tips rest on some objects of equal height, making sure at the same time that the fuselage sides are quite upright. Cheek the squareness of the wings by stretching a piece of string or using a stick to measure the distance from each wing tip to the stern post of the fuselage. These measurements must be the same..."
