Unusual subject, does anyone have the formers? I would mould a one piece canopy to include the bulges of the full size machine and look at the forward position of the motor peg, very forward thinking (literally).Peter Rea - 26/08/2026
It is interesting, indeed. N8591A is the prototype Mentor Model 45. It was displayed by Beech at the Cleveland Air Races in 1949, flown by aerobatic pilot "Bevo" Howard. The Model 45 had a "rollover" pylon between the tandem seats; this feature was not retained on the production model T-34 variants. The Model 45 also had plastic coated wooden propeller blades as used on the early Model 35 Bonanza.

For Peter Rea, the formers on the top of the tail cone are a straight tapered section of a circle, the fuselage bottom is flat. The front view gives height of ribs in wing, so they should be easy to draw out. The fuselage sides have a slight arc on the full size but this drawing seems to be a squared cross section, the nose will take some interpretation, you have a nose bowl outline and the firewall. there are plenty of pictures available to get an idea from.

The complete tiled plan was included in Flying Aces Club newsletter #253. The FAC online archive has it. It probably needs rescaling to match the nice rearranged main plan posted here on OZ. Ace Whitman always had the formers/patterns/marking details on the reverse side of the main building plan.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
