This plan was draw as a request by Robert Schlickewitz from Outerzone.
The SNCASE SE-1010 was a late 1940s French photo-survey aircraft designed and built by SNCASE for the Institut Géographique National. One prototype was built, but it crashed and the project was cancelled.

Design and development

In 1945 SNCASE designed a "stratospheric" transport for transatlantic postal work designated the SE-1000. The design was not built, but after the nose section was modified, it was built as high-altitude photo-survey aircraft for the Institut Géographique National, and re-designated the SE-1010.[1] If it was decided not to use it as a survey aircraft, it was proposed to produce it as a 14-passenger transport instead.
The SE-1010 was a sleek, four-engined, mid-wing monoplane powered by four Gnome-Rhône 14R 14-cylinder two-row air-cooled radial engines. The prototype SE-1010, with French test registration F-WEEE, first flew on 24 November 1948. On 1 October 1949 the prototype entered a flat spin during test flying from Mariganne and crashed, killing the six person crew near Carcès. The project was canceled and the three aircraft being built were not completed. –Wikipedia

CONSTRUCTION: Be sure to cover the plans with wax paper, kitchen plastic wrap or similar transparent material to keep the glue from sticking to the plan.

WING: The wing is built using the Dave Rees’ sliced rib technique. Mike Stuart has made a great tutorial that is located here: https://www.ffscale.co.uk/rees.htm Use the dimensions noted on the plan for the wing construction.

NACELLES: The nacelles are made in two sections. The cowlings and the nacelles. The cowlings are made using the technique found on Mike Stuart’s site for making round engine cowlings. These cowlings aren’t straight round cowling but more of an oval shape as shown on the plans. The lower intake is added after the cowlings are constructed using carved balsa or foam. The rest of the nacelle is built using a box style construction. Build the sides flat on the board and when dry add to the rear of the cowlings on an angle that follows the cowling. Add cross members as needed to follow these angles leaving a flat top that fits to the bottom of the wing. The upper portion uses a half circle former that angles along the L.E. of the wing. Bond paper or manila folder material is used to blend the cowls to the wing. I make a paper pattern with the fit and trim till I get a good pattern. The inner nacelle is longer for the retraction of the gear. The outer nacelles is shorter. Note the inner cowling and nacelles are longer in extension from the L.E. than the outer cowls and nacelles.

FUSELAGE: The fuselage is built using a ladder jig. There are several types of “Ladder Jigs” available Maxfliart show a great tutorial using foam board for the jig. Here’s the link to the video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yUYY1dqfH8 The fuselage formers are made from 1/16” sheet, 3 laminations of balsa strips 1/32”x1/16” or reed that is approximately 1/16” diameter. (this can be purchased at Walmart or Amazon in hobby section)

EMPENNAGE:

HORIZONTAL STAB: This is constructed using 3/32”SQ and sheet balsa over the plans, Once both panels are constructed add the dihedral as specified on the plan.

VERTICAL STAB: The vertical stab is made using 3/32” strips and sheet as designated on the plans. The outline is glued together and when dry, lift from plan and build the remaining construction “In The Air”. Add the 1/16” triangular sheet vertical spar to the cap or the stab, keeping it vertical. When this is dry start adding the 1/32”x1/8” ribs, gluing to the L.E., Spar and T.E. starting at the top and alternating sides till at the base of the VT stab.. Once this is done sand and round all edges smooth. This makes a nicer and fuller vertical stab, instead of a sheet balsa vt stab.

I hope this will meet Robert’s request. This is a unique aircraft type that I enjoy drawing plans for. I hope it satisfies those who like unusual aircraft too.
