Although the model-making industry has finally responded to the new trend by releasing several decent hand-launch glider kits, modelers are still frequently drawn to creating their own designs or building models from plans.

The design I am presenting here is the result of years of model-building experience and participation in various HLG competitions. It is designed so that any modeler with some experience can build it. Naturally, ultra-lightweight construction is a prerequisite; the maximum weight should be under 320 grams.

Sunny is designed for light to moderate winds. It easily handles high-start launches using rubber cord, as well as vigorous hand-launch throws.

- Box-style fuselage made of 1.5 mm balsa; coated with fiberglass (GRP) on the inside (extending behind the wing) and entirely on the outside for high strength.
