About this Plan

Bobik. Free flight sport cabin biplane model. Wingspan 1060 mm, for 1 cc diesel engine.

After the success of the plans KUBÍCEK (available for purchase in model shops) and JUNÁK (see MO 12/64), we requested his third proven model from the designer. BOB1K is similar in shape and dimensions to both predecessors and completes the trio well. The material is again domestic, which is easier to replace with balsa than vice versa. The model, intended primarily for those interested in modeling for relaxation, is of course again foldable, so it is easier to store, transport and in the event of a crash it is usually not damaged. We hope that with our choice we have again 'hit the mark' of many readers and perhaps there are even more of them than those who opened this booklet with the hope of something more special.

TO CONSTRUCTION We build all parts of the model on a solid and flat worktop, into which pins can be driven. To join the strips, plywood and celluloid we use acetone glue, for the coating Glutofix or white adhesive office paste. The polystyrene foam must not come into contact with acetone, we glue it with bone glue, casein or epoxy glue.

Fuselage: We glue both side panels from the strips, one on the plan and the other directly on it. We put wax paper or PVC foil under the glued areas, so that after the glue dries we can separate the side panel from the plan and the two side panels from each other. We drive the pins, forming the template, perpendicularly so that both side panels are identical. We carefully break the upper longitudinal at the bend point and strengthen it at the place where the wing is placed by gluing a shorter strip from below. To insert the partitions 2, 3, 5, leave a gap between the partitions the thickness of the partition. Recess the end 6 so that it is flush with the outer side of the longitudinals (left and right side panels).

After the side panels have completely dried, remove and glue each reinforcing strip 7 (left and right) to the bottom. After drying, assemble the fuselage. Connect the side panels with the partition 3 and the connecting piece 5; secure with spring clothespins. Insert the partition 2, thread the end of the engine bed 8 into its hole and glue the partition 1. Glue the connecting piece 4, the plate 9 forming the shape of the cabin, the pin 10 and a pair of partitions 3 x 5. Check the front parts of the side panels with a wheel-bridge triangle and let dry. Fasten the fuselage with pins to the rear lower part of the plate. We will support the bow and secure it in the correct position (we will check it with a triangle attached to the side and on the plan) so that the hull is symmetrical and not twisted. We will first glue all the lower crossbars between the longitudinals, a bamboo stake between the cut ends of the upper longitudinals and then only the upper crossbars, two short longitudinal strips, between which the keel surface 15 will move freely, and the supports of the elevator 14.

After removing the skeleton, we will glue the side plates of the forward hull 10 well to the bulkhead and the engine bed and the cutout 12 (right, left). Finally, we will glue the lower rigid cover 16, the plate 13 with the sewn spur, the cutouts 17 and insert the bamboo stakes..."

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
