RWD-6 (Profile Polish). Free flight profile scale model for rubber power. WIngspan 15 in.

During August of 1932, an important competition, the Third Challenge International, was conducted at the Staaken aerodrome in Germany. Six different countries were represented, and 43 aircraft appeared. Included were the highly-regarded German factory teams from Heinkel, Messerschmitt, Klemm and Darmstadt. Italy sent a team of eight impressive Breda machines, while France was represented by Farman and Mauboussin.
Nearly overlooked in this imposing array were the Polish entries, consisting of three PZLs and two RWDs. Yet, at the conclusion of the grueling technical tests and 186-mile closed-circuit race, the RWD 6 emerged the clear-cut champion. In addition, three other aircraft from Poland reached the final classification successfully, and thus the Poles also captured the Team Prize. Such technical superiority and flying skill in the face of the formidable competition truly startled the aviation world, and made overnight heros of the winning RWD crew Franciszek Zwirko and Stanislaw Wigura.
Our profile model was based upon information kindly supplied by aviation historian Mr Marian Krzyzan of Poland, and bears the markings of the winning RWD-6.
Construction: This model can be constructed in a fairly short time with a minimum of materials, but should be approached with care if best performance is to be achieved. Careful selection of wood and attention to keeping the weight low will contribute greatly to the model's effectiveness.
Trace the outlines of the fuselage onto a sheet of paper, which when cut out will serve as a template. Transfer the outlines onto light but stiff 3/32 sheet balsa. Carefully cut out the slot for the stabilizer and the rubber motor before cutting the main outline. Next, taper the rear of the fuselage (as viewed from the top) for a smooth transition to the thickness of the rudder. Cut out the side pieces from the same stock, and glue to each side of the cowl..."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
