Sicroly (oz16740)
About this Plan
Sicroly. Radio control pattern plane. Wingspan 71 in, for OS Max 61 SF engine.
Vector format plan.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "Hi Steve and Mary, I’m here again with a plan contribution of my own making. It is my interpretation of the Sicroly, predecessor of the Super Sicroly II (oz9817) and Super Sicroly II (oz16157), designed by Hans and Hanno Prettner in the early seventies as a competition pattern model.
I completely redesigned the model in CAD based on the only two photographs I could find. Hanno told me no drawings or sketches of the original had been preserved. It had a wingspan of around 160 cm, but my interpretation of the Sicroly is enlarged to a wingspan of 180 cm (71 inches).
I built the model in early 2026 and finished it exactly as Hanno’s model. I made the first flight end of april 2026. It is powered by an OS Max 61 SF with standard silencer, weighs 3,2 kg and is a joy to fly.
The whole story can be read on this dedicated webpage: http://avonds.com/Sicroly.htm
I attach PDF files for the plans for fuselage and wings, the parts templates, the colour views and the graphics, and a few photographs of my model and one with young Hanno Prettner and his Sicroly.
Best regards,
Philip Avonds"

What an offer. Model designed by Hanno Prettner, redrawn by a RC Scale World Champion. Wonderful designed plan. Who can ask for anything more?Giuseppe Ghisleri - 07/05/2026
Awesome contribution, thanks for sharing.
But what is the meaning of the flying bird symbol/sticker behind the engine? I've seen it several times now, though never found an explanation for it.
thx

The photo of Hanno Prettner posing with his Sicroly is circa 1970.

It was the logo for FAI.

Wonderful recontruction plan.
Hanno Prettner in person finally clarified the origin Acroly, Wicroly, Sicroly model names that we discussed in the past.
Acroly was the first. Acro was the suffix for many aerobatic models at the time, he added the LY to make the name more modern and different.
Wicroly was an Acroly conceived for windy weather, WIndiges in German
Sicroly was a new Acroly project and variants studied for the victory, SIeg in German. Victory that final arrived.
Amen

Hi Steve, Thanks for publishing the plan of the Sicroly (oz16740). It seems to be very popular with 675 downloads in 3 weeks time! I have enclosed a few beautiful pictures from last weekend’s flying session which you may add [pics 011-018].
Best regards,

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
