Quote (google-translated): "Fabio Pontanari presents the 1:4 scale reproduction of a beautiful Italian glider.
The desire to reproduce this glider dates back to August 1961, when the historic magazine 'Ali Nuove' published an article by engineer Piero Morelli describing the technical and aerodynamic characteristics of his latest creation. It's worth noting that Morelli also designed the delightful Zigolo, a 12-meter glider, the Veltro, and the excellent M 100 S (see MODELLISMO no. 42), a top glider of the 1960s. The article was accompanied by a triptych, unfortunately missing the fuselage sections, and several photos, one of which was in color. After forty years of various model aircraft, especially gliders, and having put the last F1As in the shed, I devoted myself to radio control, continuing to design and build gliders.
After a dozen builds, I felt like trying something more challenging, and the choice was very easy because this glider had remained etched in my memory, both for its original T-rudder and for two other key features: it was Italian and had not the usual white color, but orange-red (RAL code 2004).
The model and its structure: Since the original glider had a 16.08 m wingspan, it was easy to adopt a 1:4 scale with a few small modifications: the wingtip chord was increased from 125 to 140 mm, the tailplane surface increased by about 10%, and the use of double-blade spoilers instead of rotating plates. Another necessary work would be a faithful reproduction of the cockpit, but I haven't yet been able to find even the minimum documentation (help needed!).
Fuselage: The fuselage structure is made of 3 mm birch plywood half-frames joined by 10 x 10 mm and 5 x 10 mm balsa strips, with two additional ramin strips reinforcing the landing gear and nose area (photo 1). The two structures are covered with 2 mm balsa and 5 x 10 mm balsa strips..."

ScaleType: This (oz16716) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CVT4_Strale
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
