About this Plan

Starduster 600. Free flight power model. Wingspan 60 in, wing area 600 sq in, for .15 to .29 engines.

Planfile includes detailed build instructions.

Quote: "Wing: After removing the die-cut wing and stab ribs from the 1/16 balsa score all 1/8 sq notches in die-cut ribs with razor blade before pushing out balsa. (Wing and Stab). Remove the die-cut triangular balsa shape, this is a gauge to be used to set the wing and stab tips in place at the 60 degree angle. The center dihedral rib WC-1 and the tip dihedral ribs WD-1 and wing tips are printed on 1/8 sheet balsa, cut out these parts and use the WC-1 center rib as a pattern to cut out the notches for the 1/8 x 3/16 rubberband braces on two die-cut ribs, one for each side of the center dihedral joint. Stack all the ribs on spars and sand lightly to remove any irregularities.

Build wing in conventional manner, however, it is preferable to leave the wing tips oversize and then trim to correct airfoil shape after removing from the work board. Cement the wingtip braces in place and sand to contour. Before dihedralling the wing pre-cement all the leading, trailing edge, spar joints and dihedral braces, allow to dry and then recement liberally when setting in dihedral. Optional - if desired the three center ribs may be undercut 1/16 on the bottom of the airfoil and covered with 1/16 sheet balsa.

Cement the .040 music wire to the leading edge, notch out the trailing edge and cement the 1/16 copper coated mild steel wire in place at the trailing edge center section. Cover and dope the wing and then cement the wing locating dowels in place. It is suggested that the bottom of the wing and stabilizer be painted a dark color for good visibility in the air... "

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
