About this Plan

Super V Shark. Control line sport model. Wingspan 24 in.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Steve, Mary.. Number 2... another yet different Stanzel Shark. I've got to laugh, the Shark P-60 (oz955) is rubber powered and the same sized plane as the V and the G.. only they had .60s up front!?! Looking at the size of the wings, it would have to be fast!

This Super V Shark is also 24" wingspan, and 24" long, with a slight variation on the control set-up from the earlier one. I can remember seeing a photo of one of my dad's planes, which I'm sure now, was a Stanzel Shark of one type or another. He didn't speak about it, as he did his other models, so it's possible the 100mph speeds were beyond his abilities??

This Super V apparently came about in 1943 as per https://www.modelaviationdigital.com/model.... In 1950, the true Mono-Line controller was introduced. I'll include some photos of one I have. This controller has over 17" of travel, with the pitch approximately 4.5 turns per inch of movement, of the red control knob. But the worm gear and bell-crank mounted in the airplane is spring centered, with only 6 full turns from one extreme to the other. The amount of required torque goes up rather quickly away from center, so it would seem the control wire was twisted with significant extra turns to overcome the spring centering action of the worm gear and bell-crank, feeding the elevator thru a standard push-rod."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
