Quote: "CONVAIR XB-46 LIGHT BOMBER
28” SPAN
DRAWN 2013
This is another of the early jet aircraft. Convair didn’t use a swept wing on this on and seems to later switch to the delta wing planform with it’s following aircraft proposals. You’ve got to love these early jet as the jet engine was being made the primary propulsion for the new aircraft being proposed. I think that if the jet engine had progressed as quickly as the airframes that some of the early jets would have been more successful, because one of the major complaints was under powered!
Well here’s a light bomber that with clear props would make a nice model.
CONSTRUCTION:
WING: The wing is built using the Rees’ sliced rib construction. I’ve used this in many plans but a reminder that as the chord of the wing shrinks trim the sliced rib from the trailing edge to fit the chord.
FUSELAGE: The fuselage uses the ladder jig for construction. Make sure to leave the area in the fuselage open for insertion of the wing before the nacelles are added.
EMPENNAGE: I especially liked the vertical stab on this aircraft. This plan being one of my first, uses 3/32” sq and sheet to build the vertical stab flat on the board. The horizontal stab was built in the traditional way with 3/32” sq and sheet balsa flat on the building board."

ScaleType: This (oz16606) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_XB-46
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
