About this Plan

Latecoere 631. Free flight model flying boat, for rubber power. Wingspan 36 in.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Steve and Mary, Miguel asked a few weeks back for some plans of the Latecoere Aircraft Co.

I already made one that was a quick and easy low wing prototype.

I've always loved flying boats and the Latecoere 631 is such a graceful looking flying boat and with the six engines gives the opportunity for either six rubber motors or a clear prop on the nose of the fuselage for a simpler construction, with six small free wheeling props.

Instructions and links are included on the plan for the wing construction and fuselage/empennage.

I hope this will give Miguel something to keep him busy!
Regards,
Tom Akery"

ScaleType: This (oz16596) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latécoère_631
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Hi Tom,
where DO you dig up all these obscure birds? I always thought of myself as a nerd when it comes to rare aircraft, but I tip my hat to you.
Cheers, Martin

Oh great! Now what am I going to do! I do love seaplanes! Dave, stray on target, stay on target, CL-215 first!
Thanks for all your efforts Tom!

Impressive!

If I detect a theme (gargantuan, water based, obscure) I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Akery presents a plan for the Sud-Est SE.200 Amphitrite.

I'm sorry for the terse comment above, it shows one must not write when a) one is unwell, b) one is an idiot. a) is curable.
But yes, it is an impressive work of design art/science. Cramming all this beauty in 36" is a technical tour de force! A pity the prototype was not a great success, but beautifuk still.
Amphi trite (sic) - The old story. Be given a finger, ask for a leg :))
Thank you, Master Akery!

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
