About this Plan

Henschel HS 121. Radio control scale model. Wingspan 79 in, for Moki VT 50 engine.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "As far as I know there was never an RC Model of the Henschel HS 121 and only 2 pictures of Version 1 and 2 are available in the internet and I found a 3 side view. The 121 was later build as a low wing version called the 125, this may be more famous and has been build as model airplane.

The 121 was the very first plane for Henschel in 1934 as a certificate of confidence to the Reichsministerium to qualify Henschel to build planes. It was single seated and got damaged in January 1934. It was rebuild and repaired and reflown in September 1934, with some little variations like stronger gear with additional strut and bigger vertical stabilizer.

Here I decided to make an RC plane from the very first Version. Wingspan is 2,3m / 79 inch and powered by a Moki VT 50 (petrol four stroke). I managed to buy the last engine available in Canada some years ago and so the plane was build that the cowling just covers this engine.

I have sent a lot of pictures, feel free to choose and enclose find all dxf data for wooden parts, CAD files for mouldings and pdf drawings. It’s a rare plane and I hope some people will be inspired to build their own Henschel 121.This one should fly in summer 2026. Watch out for news here.

Matthias"

Note the main planfile here is a single PDF file with 19 sheets. This serves as a quick overview. For a more detailed (itemised) view, see the supplement file "named_sheets.zip" for the same plan, but here each plan sheet has a title of material and size. Then of course there is the full CAD file download in DXF format. Esentially, these are the wing files. Steve.

Note there is no PDF plan of the fuselage, instead there are 3D STP files.

Note this is a complex project and not for the faint hearted. The wing is complex, but the fuselage is very, very complex. To construct the fuselage a master form is 3D printed in several sections (see STP files) which are assembled together and then used to create a mould. Which is then in turn used to create the fuse. As Matthias says: "...in 100 hours you have a fibreglass fuselage".

Corrections?

Did we get something wrong with these details about this plan (especially the datafile)? That happens sometimes. You can help us fix it.

ScaleType: This (oz16584) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henschel_Hs_121
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
