Bristol Scout D (oz16575)
About this Plan
Bristol Scout D. Radio control scale model WWI biplane. Wingspan 870 mm.
Quote (google-translated): "The Bristol Scout D is a single-seat British reconnaissance aircraft that entered service in 1916. This small model is conventionally built from wood and requires some experience in building and flying models. Familiarize yourself thoroughly with the instructions and plans before you begin construction.
Fuselage: First, assemble the two fuselage sides from parts R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R7, and the engine bulkhead from R8 and R9. Attach the wedge-shaped base RIO to the front of the engine bulkhead; this ensures the correct side thrust and downthrust of the engine. Remember to cut out the opening for the muffler now. Drill all the holes in the engine bulkhead for the engine mount, fuel lines, and throttle.
Fix the fuselage sides to the plan using the upper strips R3, adjust the strips R3 at the rear of the fuselage, and glue the upper and lower strips together. Then carefully glue in the horizontal struts R6 and frame R12.
After sufficient drying time, remove the fuselage from the building board. Glue the fuselage sides to the engine bulkhead. According to the plans, fabricate the canopy struts R40 and R41 from wire. Glue frame R11, with the canopy struts R40 sewn and glued to it, into the fuselage. Then glue in half-frame R25 and the mounting plate R27, made from 4 mm plywood. Sew and glue the rear canopy struts R41 to half-frame R13 with wire, then glue half-frame R13 into the fuselage.
Glue the reinforcements R26 between fuselage frames R9 and R12. Fabricate the mounting plate for the front landing gear struts from parts R22, R23, and R24 and glue it in place. Install the mounting plate R37 in the rear fuselage with the attached (epoxy) tail skid R36. Glue in the reinforcements R20 and R21. Plank the underside of the fuselage with 2mm balsa strips R28 and R29. Glue the half-frames R14-R18 and strip R30 to the top of the fuselage. Attach the strips R19 to the fuselage spine and plank the forward section of the fuselage with R31.
The transition from the cowling to the fuselage is created as follows: Glue the molded frames R32, R33, and R34 to the side panels, connect them with strip R35, and plank with R36. Create the cutout for the muffler.
Route the linkages for the elevator and rudder R56. Reinforce the rear fuselage section with bamboo strips R45. The cabin floor R51 is removable and secured with screw R52.
Build the engine cowling from parts R46, R47, R48, and R49 and cover it with Modelspan. Attach the windscreen R55 and cabin trim R54 only to the fully covered and painted model.
Wings: The wings can be built directly on the plan on a flat work surface. The outer wing panels of both wings have the same dihedral angle.
Upper Wing: The upper wing consists of two separate wing halves. Fix the spars F1 and F2 to the plan and glue in the ribs F3, F4, and F5, the leading edge (made from parts F9 and F10), and the trailing edge F11. Glue in the spar box F16 and the upper spar F1. Glue in the wingtips F13 with reinforcements F14, F15, F17, F18, F19, and F20. Glue in the half-ribs F3A. Remove the wing halves from the building board, shim them according to the dihedral angle, and join them with parts F21, F22, and F12. Then glue in the ribs F6, F7, and F8..."

ScaleType: This (oz16575) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Scout
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
