Sleek Streek (oz16542)
About this Plan
Sleek Streek. Simple rubber stick ROG model. Wingspan 15 in.
Vector format.
Note the Sleek Streek dates back to 1952. This here is a modern redrawn plan. The original kit would not have included a plan, all the parts were pre-cut.
See RCGroups thread post at: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=45517693 by MonofoilMan.
Quote: "Sleek Streek plan and parts. I've finally gotten around to building a replica Sleek Streek and thought I'd share what I've done so far in case others would like to make one. The prop with the hanger, landing gear and wheels (black) are available from the new Peck Polymers web site, though I had a few I'd saved from other projects many years ago. The attached PDFs made from my CAD plans show the parts of the model and the artwork for using Avery Iron on transfers printed with an inkjet or perhaps using dye sublimation transfer.
The Avery iron on worked reasonably well, but the temperature needs to be set on the highest COTTON setting on a regular iron. I did it with a Top Flite iron set on the highest setting and had mixed results. It takes heat and pressure to firmly fuse the image to the 1/32 balsa so it doesn't tend to lift off when you peel the transfer paper away.
The wing clip presented a unique problem that was solved by making a CAD drawing and exporting it as a .stl file for printing on a 3d printer. The file is attached here but the gcode was not recognized and I couldn't attach it. I printed it on a Creality Ender 3 pro with standard PLA settings, a 15 line brim around the part to keep it attached to the heated bed. The layer height was set for .2mm and a shell thickness of .4 mm. The part seems to work well and even lets you pinch the bottom to ease the insertion of the wings..."

I lost count of how many of these I had as a kid back in the 60's...pure nostalgia.Vic Arcudi - 28/01/2026
I don't know how many Sleeks I've lost on the trees. To me the SS was the best rubber powered bag stick plane. Very instructive for children, girls or boys. I had 2 sisters and my father regularly bought three of them for us.

I thought long and hard before buying one of these. 2s11d in 1963 so not cheap for schoolboy wages. For a penny more an Airfix model of Picard's DH Mosquito EG-T was available - but I had one already.

Bill Warner’s articles I titled “Hey Kid You Wannna Build a model Airplane” took the Sleek Streek into the realm of a real performer. This was published as a series of articles in Model Builder and later as a series of three books. Fun if you can find them.

Got it. We have that one coming along in a couple of days, too :)

There's Bill Hannan's article from Nov. '70 and Bill Warner's Super in July '71, both in American Aircraft Model(l)er.

The Bill Warner plan 'Super Sleek Streek' we have coming up. Can someone send in the Bill Hannan article? Did it include a plan, or was it just text?
SteveWMD - 28/01/2026
Ak ok, strike that. I have it here now.
SteveWMD - 28/01/2026
Ok, have added that article here onto this page, now.

In my youth, early 1970s, I had a few of these. Easy to trim and fly. I trimmed one a little too good. It caught a thermal and flew away! We just stood there and watched to go until it was out of sight. Good times :-)

The Bill Warner Hey Kid articles have been collated at https://www.nosf.ca/resources.shtml in three parts under the Free Flight section of the resources link. The pdf's can be downloaded.
Part 1 concerns the Sleek Streek.

Added a pic of the Sleek Streek parts and packaging, in the mid 1970s [pic 004].

In 1964, If I got up and met the milkman early on a Saturday morning (about 5:00), he would GIVE me a SS. Many happy weekends with these. Learned a lot about trimming them from my older cousins.

Well Mark... now I'm a little disturbed, cause my mom had a drawer full of SS's and I had no idea where she was getting them from,,, until now.

Did anyone else try reducing the wingspan? The Sleetreek was fairly unremarkable, but the Sleeek was very fast indeed - with no inclination to climb.
Andrew H - 30/01/2026
I remember I experimented a lot with the SS when I was a child. I discovered that if you move the wing at the extreme rear of the fuselage stick, just in contact with the rudder, you will obtain an "aerocar". It will run straight on the floor with the tail up without any bad or torque tendencies. Good for the winter home evening days.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
