About this Plan

Cessna C-425 Corsair. Free flight scale model twin, for rubber power. Wingspan 36 in.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "CESSNA C-425 CORSAIR
36” SPAN
DRAWN 8 MAY 2024

I was looking at some of the latest models that were built for the FAC Nats and the Beech King Air was done very nicely by Mike Stuart and I thought Cessna might have an equivalent that might make a nice model. Sure enough, there was the C-425 Corsair. Now with the name Corsair I just had to give it a go.

CONSTRUCTION:

WING: Dave Rees’ style sliced rib construction is used.

FUSELAGE: Build the fuselage using the ladder jig. Formers can be made from 1/16” sheet balsa or the formers can be laminated from 3 lams of 1/32”x1/16” strips of balsa around the templates.

EMPENNAGE: The horizontal stab is built from 3/32” sq and sheet balsa. Use two ribs at the center so one can be sanded for the dihedral. This can be done in sand and try method, to get a good joint for cementing. The vertical fin/rudder is built in the air after the outline is built flat on the board. Hope to build one in the near future.

Regards,
Tom Akery/Sky9pilot"

ScaleType: This (oz16536) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_425
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
