I’ve had the priviledge of seeing the Snowbirds fly their demonstration routine and they fly the Tutor. You want a colorful paint scheme for your model here’s one!! This is a great aircraft and with a small extension of the jet exhaust so the pusher prop will clear the empennage and you're in business.

CONSTRUCTION:
WING: The wing is done using the Dave Rees’ sliced rib construction. I’ve noted tutorials on this technique done by Mike Stuart on his site Free Flight Models. The dihedral wasn’t listed but the ROT is the tips of the wing should be right at the bottom of the canopy. I would recommend this for the Tutor.

FUSELAGE: Construction of the fuselage uses the box style fuselage with formers on top and bottom to give the fuselage it’s rounded shape. I planned on 1/16” sheet for the formers. A balsa block is used for the prop extension and rounded to look like the exhaust nozzle.

EMPENNAGE: Because of the prop block extension I show the horizontal stab made from 1/16” sq and sheet balsa. With the almost 'T' tail I’d double the ribs and sand to airfoil. Again I have in my mind how I’d build it but didn’t always get those thoughts on the plan. The vertical surface is made of 1/16” sheet to help in making a strong “T-tail”.

I look forward to building this one as it’ll make a great looking model. That’s how some of my models get away from me. A grandson or neighbor kid sees it and wants it. I always reason, I can build another one so maybe they’ll want to build one in the future.

Regards,
Tom Akery/Sky9pilot"

    ScaleType: This (oz16527) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadair_CT-114_Tutor

    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
