About this Plan

Sig Foam Wing Straight. A plan showing a balsa-construction alternative to the SIG foam wing used on many designs.

Note SIG produced two different foam wings. This here is the straight wing. For the taper wing (with flat bottom) see SIG Foam Wing (oz16499)

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: " Steve & Mary; based on recent comments on the tapered SIG Foam Wing (oz16499) plan I previously submitted, I have come up with a design for the untapered SIG Foam Wing as suggested by Dave in the comments. I used the aerofoil coordinates provided by Dave Fritzke in the RCUniverse thread of 2006 at https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/golden.... I hope it is of some use to your readers. Short kits are available.
Thanks for all the plans,
Mark Winstanley"

That was fast... thanks for the plan for this wing (and the others) Mark.

Ha, a 20 year old RCU thread to the rescue. That post has all 7 of those earlier Sig plans that used this wing posted, albeit scanned from a low resolution source. I will track down and submit my scan of the Beaver plan from my full size copy.
Thanks for working up that wing plan Mark!

My pleasure. If you can find any of the old plans that use this wing I would be happy to turn them into short kits for folks. - Mark.

We have the plans for the Beaver and the Fleet Bipe - both of them used this foam wing - coming online in a couple of days, thanks to Dave.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
