About this Plan

Cessna 195 Turbo. Free flight scale model for rubber power.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "CESSNA 195 TURBO CONVERSION
27” SPAN
DRAWN 2017

I first saw this aircraft while view HPA (Hip Pocket Aeronautics) on a nocal model of this aircraft. I liked the looks of this aircraft and decided to draw up a plan for a full bodied model . The turbo adds some nice length to the nose of the plane and this is good for rubber powered models. This plane is a “one off “ conversion as far as I know. It’s in red, black and white so it makes a nice looking plane.

CONSTRUCTION:

WING: The Rees’ sliced rib construction is used on this wing. There are many tutorials on this style construction. Youtube has some in Maxfliart’s videos. Mike Stuart’s site Free Flight Models has one on the technique of the Rees’ style wing and stickandtissue.com has some tutorials on how to build using this technique.

FUSELAGE: The fuselage is built using the box style fuselage with formers on top and bottom of the box to round out the fuselage. You can see this technique on stickandtissue.com under the tutorial section on the Easy Built Spitfire.

EMPENNAGE: Horizontal stab is built using laminations for the outline of the stab. 3 laminations of 1/32”x3/32” around the templates. The rest is 3/32” sq and sheet balsa. The vertical stab is built flat on the board using 3/32” sq and sheet balsa."

ScaleType: This (oz16505) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_195
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

Is there documentation for this airplane, particularly, is there a 3-view drawing?

There's a photo of the full size plane here: https://volareproducts.com/new2024/a-competit... if that helps. Searching that reg leads to https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/PT-ZPN for more pics.

Hello, Tom. I was interested if you would want to design plans for the Ryan Fr-1 Fireball? Specifically a neo-dimer or possibly even a peanut. It’s been a trouble finding any accurate plans for the fireball, and i’m unfamiliar with CAD drawings. If I could, i’d make plans for my own.
Best,
Gage

There's a peanut sized Fireball plan (by Continental Models) right here on OZ. See Ryan Fireball (oz1433). It has minimal structure and could be easily enlarged to a "dimer"-like 16 inch span, using a copy machine. For documentation, there is a 3-view on the OZ sister site rclibrary:

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
