Baxter (oz16370)
About this Plan
Baxter. Free flight fantasy scale model for rubber power.
“BAXTER” FICTION FLYER 25” SPAN
This plan was inspired by WayneN in his post on Small Flying Arts regarding his conversation with a fellow modeler. He started drawing the plans and posted a few pictures of the Jefferson Airplane Triplane from the cover of the album “Bathing at Baxter’s”, So from his sketches I took it a few steps further and drew this plan. It’s for a single rubber motor with a motor stick from the top motor back to the horizontal stab. The two other motors are dummy motors with free-wheeling prop. There’s a lot of “brick-brack” which in my part of the modeling world we call it the “Fiddly Bits”. The fuselage is made from a rectangular box framed up with 3/32”SQ balsa sticks. The sides could be covered with 1/32” balsa sheet or plane paper with hte siding drawn on with colored pens, pencils or paint brushes. Only limited to your imagination. The bay window up front could be constructed with 1/32” sheet balsa. I have lots of ideas of how to complete the fuselage. It would be great fun but, if I’m going to get it to fly I must think light.
The wings would be created using the Dave Rees’ Sliced Rib Construction. Check out Mike Stuart’s site “Mike’s Free Flight Models” he has a great tutorial on how to achieve this wing constructions.
The Empennage is suspended on booms attached to the top and bottom of the central wing. I thought of constructing these booms (4) by laminating 4 strips of 1/16” strips. I was thinking of a strip of Tyvek in the center for strength and then round the booms into dowel shape.
Empennage is constructed in 3/32” sq and sheet balsa with outline laminated in 1/32”x3/32” strips. If mine gains too much weight, she’ll look good hanging from the ceiling.
Thanks to Steve and Mary for a great site that offers so many plans!!!

I was surfing the modeling sites and found this reference to the "Baxter" a Fiction Flyer on the Small Flying Arts under the Construction Thread.
I'm including my thoughts on construction and a PDF of the plan.

The plan thumbnail doesn't really show the looks of the Baxter. So I thought I'd send a picture of the Jefferson Airplane Cover of the Plane [main pic, 003]. Thanks for including this Fiction Flyer. Regards,

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
