What a perfect summer floater! I would love to know what it weighs as built in the photo with the nice see-through covering, it looks very lightweight.

I used to really love watching Eut clean up at the Texaco/fuel allotment events with his Real Westerners (how he distinguished them from the Foote Westerners)
The yellow & red one had an old OS FS .60 open rocker 4-stroke. It may not have been converted to ignition by Otto Bernhardt. They run fine on petrol with lowered compression and one of those new fangled gas glow plugs.
The gold one had a Czechoslovakian MVVS 10cc diesel.

I am not sure why this is called the "Real Westerner" as the orginal 1938 version was 96" wingspan, according to the SAM approved gas model list. Perhaps there's an interesting story there? Regardless, for anyone building either version it would be worthwhile to use the SAM legal upgrades that Eut made to the structure. I am sure it's a fine flying airplane!

Mr. Blake:
It appears Real Westerner was Eut’s pet name for all Weathers Westerners regardless of size. It’s very different from all of the Foote Westerners

Simon C.:
If it’s like the rest of his models, it came in under minimum weight (84oz) and he had to add small wrenches from his pockets during the processing.
He was an exceptionally good builder.

Super popular model three decades ago in Australia and NZ. Center section for wing (upper right corner) appears truncated. The original size plan shows this on the top of the fuselage and should be of some help. Even I could reproduce it extending the lines with a ruler and a sharp pencil. ??

This plan shows half of that section, complete with a centreline. Is that what you mean?

I really like the way he does the full-flying stabiliser.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
