About this Plan

Baga 32 bis. Control line sport-scale model. Wingspan 140 cm.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Good morning, I am forwarding the drawings and documentation relating to the BAGA 32Bis, a model aircraft in the F2B circular tethered flight category produced in kit form by the Italian company Aviomodelli of Cremona in the 1970s and 1980s.

The original model, designated BAGA 32, was the work of the late, renowned Valter Bagalini. The kit differed from the original in its ABS fuselage, inverted engine, and other small details.

Personally, at a young age and under my father's careful supervision, I built one that proved to be an excellent aerobatic aircraft.

The complete catalog of the Aviomodelli company from that period can be found, freely downloadable, in the web library of the "Gruppo Falchi di Bergamo" model airplane club, of which I am a member, at www.gruppofalchi.com which I invite you to visit even just out of curiosity.

In closing, I'd like to express my sincere compliments on the work you're doing for the benefit of the entire global model aircraft community. Best regards,
Fabio Suardi"

Very nice plane. It's beautiful silhouette remind me of Zlin-526.
It seems to me that the control wires in the wing are at the wrong angle. In flight the cables tend to align with the center of gravity which is why they will make a bad angle when come out at the tip of the wing. The bellcrank should be moved much closer to the center of gravity and the cables would make the correct angle.
That way there would be no need for the engine angle either.

In fact, the position of the bellcrank is of no significance from an aerodynamic point of view. The position of the leadouts where they exit the wingtip is very important, however - hence the adjustable leadout guides of all modern C/L aerobatic designs.

Hi John,
totally agree, as you can see I didn't say anything about the position of the leadouts.
My concern was related to the very large angle that the cables coming out of the wing would make, especially if they are not flexible cables.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
