About this Plan
Douglas C-47 Dakota. Radio control scale model twin. Wingspan 97 in, for 2 x 5 cc engines. Scale is 1/12.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Note this model is the same scale and forms a pair with the Baby Train Waco CG4 Hadrian (oz16341) plan.
Update 20/10/2025: Added article from MRA, Sept 1992, thanks to HJVanTol.
Quote (google-translated): "Dakota. A highly detailed model by Guy Conques, based on an MRA plan.
This model was created based on the MRA plan of the Dakota, American civil designation DC-3B, or military designation C-47B, known as the Skytrain, known in England as the Dakota Mk IV, a mixed troop transport and freight aircraft characterized by a reinforced floor and wide cargo doors, a glider tug version.
To match the different model he chose to represent, the author simply states that he had to "rework the design of the stern by removing the towing hook and finishing the fuselage curve under the stabilizer." Similarly, the tail fin was slightly enlarged to conform to the Air France model represented. It is clear, however, that the essential differences lie in the type of construction chosen.
We do not recommend it to beginners, because as the author says, quite honestly they could not face and solve all the problems created by the realization of this trap of sorrows which nevertheless represents, in its cross-shaped version, with retractable landing gear and passenger cabin equipped with twenty-one seats, nearly 2000 hours of childhood. It should nevertheless be noted that everything was undertaken from the MRA 757 plan (ex Baby-Train), work of Guy Fava, which amateurs can use to build a less ambitious version - which will fly very well too. There is no shortage of examples..."

ScaleType: This (oz16337) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_C-47_Skytrain
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
