I didn't realize there was a big version of this model. Outerzone lists the 60-inch version which is more familiar to people. However, I looked it up on the SAM approved gas model list and it is indeed legitimate. It wouldn't have had those turbulator spars in the wing and I suspect the original construction was like the 60-inch version. I was surprised to read that it could be built with Clark Y or RAF 32 airfoils, though D'Angelis did use the RAF32 or something like it on his Trenton Terror. However, like many of us, I expect he was experimenting with airfoils and likely built a couple of different wings for this airplane. I couldn't find any more information in back issues of SAM Speaks, so this is really interesting. Thanks for posting!Simon Blake - 16/10/2025
The smaller version builds fast and light. And, it’s a decent enough flyer. I really like the way the windscreen is done on this version.
Well, off to the hobby shop for some strip wood and I’ll be cutting my 24 identical wing ribs this weekend.
Thanks OZ!

Well, it looks like Mickey is looking on approvingly. I think he might have objected if the model wasn't authentic.
The plan appears to have a low thrust line as stated in the caption. The only thing that doesn't look quite Kosher is the landing gear. Nevertheless, it's hard to find two multi-legged examples bent identically.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
