About this Plan

Skylane 10. Radio control sport-scale trainer model. Wingspan 48-3/8 in. Wing area 315 sq in. For .10 - .15 engine.

Quote: "Skylane 10 Sport Scale Trainer Model. Instructions: The Global Skylane-10 was designed for the pilot who wants a convenient sized, 3 channel trainer that looks like a real plane. It was designed and engineered to give you a small model that is easy to build, easy to fly, and good looking. The Skylane can be flown with a .10 - .15 size R/C engine. It is a smooth, predictable model that can be used for training or sport flying. The flat bottom airfoil, high wing planform, and tricycle landing gear make learning to take off, fly and land fun and easy.

The Skylane is perfectly suited for use with Magnum's GP .10 R/C engine for the beginner. With this engine the Skylane has enough power for ROG takeoffs and basic maneuvering, exactly what the novice pilot needs.

For the more experienced pilot, the Magnum GP .15 R/C engine will deliver a higher level of performance. Basic rudder/elevator aerobatics and general sport flying are easily accomplished.

The small size of the Skylane makes it the perfect 'anytime' model. It can be kept in your car fully assembled, ready to go. You can stop at the flying field any time and get in a few quick flights.

BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS: GETTING STARTED: The first step is to totally familiarize yourself with the plans and instructions before starting actual construction. Be sure you understand each step and what parts are needed before gluing. Cover your plans with wax paper or similar material to protect them during construction and to prevent parts from being glued to them. All parts should be held firmly in place during construction with pins. To pin parts down it will be necessary to get yourself a piece of Celotex board or firm cork sheet from your local hardware store. Place this on your workbench which should be straight and free of warps. Your finished model will only be as straight and true as the sur-face it is built on.

Use Lightning 5 Minute Epoxy and CA glues for construc-tion. Most of the model will be built with Lightning Thin and Slow CAs. High stress areas will be glued with 5 minute epoxy. When gluing be sure to use only the amount of glue necessary for a good bond. Excessive amounts of glue will not make the model stronger, only heavier and harder to finish-sand. Always use caution and follow all manufac-turer's recommendations and safety warnings when using epoxy or CA. Work in a well ventilated area with good lighting..."

    ScaleType: This (oz16328) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_182_Skylane
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
