Mister Tileston had another plan from the 80s for a Lancer 45 but somewhere inbetween the sizes you have. I think it was a Class A bird and showed installation for a Super Tigre 19 or a class A K&B.
Does anyone know where to find this? The AMA only has the original kit plan which is pretty poor.

We have more of these in the pipeline, thanks to Tom. Let me check.

Looking forward to more Eut Tileston plans!!

Ok yes, we also have the "Lancer 45 450" coming along, that one has wingspan 59-1/2 in.

Resembles the Pearson-Williams "Mr. Smoothie" racer from the 30's!!

It certainly does https://plans.modelaircraft.org/product/pearson-williams-mr-smoothie-2/
Just a little more wing. There was also a Lancer 48 and a Lancer 49. They came later and had small sub fins. Otherwise, they were the same.
The Lancer 72 was a different animal altogether. Undercambered wing and stringered fuselage to start.

Another shot of the scaled Lancer 45 [main pic]. Note full flying stabiliser as shown on the plan drawing.

Hi Mary, Hi Steve. Seeing the latest Old Timer model featured on Outerzone, I thought you may be interested in a few models I built in the past of this absolutely great design [pics 004-009]. I knew Eut Tileston very well, he visited us in Australia almost 40 years ago and we went flying together along with our son Anthony and the late Colin Borthwick. Eut was the lightest builder of model aircraft we had ever known. I bought all his Lancer plans he had drawn up, and discovered how fast and stable the 72'' span model was. And that was only with an ancient Enya 46 FS powering it. (That's the yellow and white one in pic 007) I later made 3 more, two for fellow Vintagents club members (Queensland) and an ultra lightweight one for myself. It's by far the fastest model I've ever flown! This is the orange and white one with black nose trim [pics 008, 009]. Using a standard OS 32SXH engine which I carefully ran in properly I was achieving 17,000 rpm using an APC 9 X 6 prop. It was just like a firework rocket! At only 3 lb total weight one would expect some significant performance but this was mind blowing. I eventually sold it and despite it's extremely light weight it continued flying without breaking up for many years. I wonder where it is now?

As a matter of interest, I've attached a picture here [pic 010] I took at the time when I had hair! Eut is with Colin Borthwick who was the President of our Old Timer club called "The Vintagents" which is now defunct due to mortality. Our son Anthony was still at school back then, hes 56 now! Life is much too short isn't it. Both Col and Eut passed away some years ago.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
