Quote: "Hi Mary and Steve, Here I like to schare a copy of a plan from the Chevron 2 kit. Designed by Ray Brown, manufactured by Model Flight Accessories. Send you also the building instruction and some pictures from the kit. Also there is a picture of empty box from the first version of the Chevron [pic 005]. Best regards, Tom"
Quote (kit box): "Beautiful swept wing high-performance aeroplane designed for really smooth flying for competition, which also makes it particularly suitable for the beginner to low wing aeroplanes. The kit incorporates glass fuselage, foam wings, fuel tank, engine mount, steerable noseleg, horns, quicklinks, hinges, PTFE cable, precision cut parts, etc."
Quote: "Instructions for Chevron 2. Model Description: During the time the MFA Chevron has been on the market, Ray Brown has further developed this remarkable aeroplane to improve its already fine flying performance and looks. We have now incorporated.these important modifications in the kit model as the Chevron Mk2. The most significant of which are, a progressive section wing ie semi-symmetrical at the root, full symmetrical at the tip. This gives the effect of slight washout, improving the slow speed handling and. increasing the top speed, without effecting the inverted flying. The completely new tail surfaces have various aerodynamic advantages and increased strength as well as looking more attractive. Although the aeroplane has a high performance its low speed handling is outstanding so it is quite suitable for the flyer progressing from high wing models.
Adhesives required for the kit: 1 x 4 oz Bondaglass resin (or equivalent fibreglass resin); 1 x Small Evo-Stik Resin 'W' (or any PVA or 'white' glue); 1 x Small packet epoxy glue (eg Araldite 'Rapid').
Fuselage: 1. Drill the engine mount with a 4mm (9/64") drill in the positions marked on the mount. Now position the mount on to the former (2) in exact position in section A-A and drill four 2.4mm (3/32") corresponding holes in the former. Similarly drill the nylon blocks of the steerable noseleg and former. (Please note: Make sure the front former (2) is the correct way up, the top has a slightly smaller radius than the bottom). Mount the nylon blocks using the 6b.a. countersunk screws. Temporarily screw the engine mount on to the former using the self tapping screws.
2. Drill and tap the engine mount (usually 4b.a.) and bolt your engine on to it in such a position so that the prop driver of the engine and the front former will be approximately the same distance apart as indicated on the plan.
3. Cut out the section on fuselage side as shown by the dotted line and install the engine and bulkhead assembly, so that the prop driver of the engine is approximately 3mm (1/8") in front of fuselage and exactly in the centre (the easiest way to do this is to fit the propeller and spinner to the engine). File the edge of the former, if necessary, to get an exact fit.
4. Using the epoxy adhesive glue the bulkhead in and reinforce with a 12mm (1/2") strip of fibreglass (cut from the 50mm strip) right round both sides. Saturate with fibreglass resin. Allow to dry.
5. Engine and mount can now be removed until final installation of the radio, etc.
6. Assemble tailplane frame over the plan (30.3/37) and cover both sides with 1/16" sheet when dry glue on to the fuselage with Epoxy resin (roughen the seat with a file first). Make up fin assembly (25.30) over plan, cover both sides with 1/16" sheet and when dry glue into position again with Epoxy (roughen top of fuselage slightly first where the dorsal fin sits). Before the glue dries, do make sure everything is absolutely true in all directions... "

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
