About this Plan
Bellanca 28-90. Free flight scale model for rubber power. Wingspan 27 in.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "BELLANCA 28-90 27” SPAN DRAWN 9 APR 2025. This plan fit my unusual aircraft bent. Just check out the profile of the fuselage. Note the kingpost are off the center line of the fuselage and allows the wing wires used to brace the wings. On the “Irish Swoop” there was an additional skid added to the king posts. There is more info on this model on the internet.
WING CONSTRUCTION: Another sliced rib construction of Dave Rees’ design. As I mentioned before this makes a really light yet strong wing. I prefer a one piece wing so the fuselage will be cut at the bottom to insert the wing or you can create the opening with the wing saddle and leave stringer off till after the wing is place in the fuselage by sliding it through the fuselage.
FUSELAGE CONSTRUCTION: Using a ladder jig the fuselage formers are aligned on the rungs of the ladder and the construction is began by adding stringers alternating sides of the fuselage. Just remember that once most of the stringers are added to leave yourself room to remove the rungs of the ladder before finishing the stringers.
I usually use a glue that can be dissolved with acetone of removal of the rungs from the formers. Just a small amount of acetone on a paint brush dabbed onto the rib will loosen the glue. Or you can carefully use an Exacto knife to slice the formers from the ribs very carefully.
EMPENNAGE CONSTRUCTION: Horizontal stab is made using 3/32” sq and sheet sand the edges round. The vertical fin/rudder outline is made of (3) 1/32”x 3/32” laminations and the rest is my typical build in the air vertical spar of 1/16” sheet and ribs of 1/32”x1/8” strips glued over the vertical spar to the L.E. and T.E.

ScaleType: This (oz16290) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellanca_28-90
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
