Quote: "Plan submission - response to requested plan. Hello Oz, I saw the request for this wanted plan. I have attached a high res scan of the original plan. I have a kit still new in box. When I get a chance I will scan and send through the build manual and I will hopefully have a PDF/DXF file for wing ribs, formers and fuse sides in the near future. But this scan of the plan is a great start!
Regards,"

Best sport glider ever!

I built this kit back in 1985, and I am still flying it in the Millennium Cup competition this year, she is 40 years old now. My Advancer was built with a full flying tailplane (same shape and size as original) and a lower/wider balanced rudder, these mods were from the start. When it was a pure glider, she had been launched via hi-start, both hand tow and reflex hand tow, and electric winch. The last rules change for the MC comp around 5 years ago, we went electric launch using ALES computers on the throttle. The Quiet Advancer has placed third in the MC comp once, most years in the centre of the pack, while flying against the latest RES designs. Been after a set of plans for the Quiet Advancer for a long time now. Thanks Matt.

Hi, This pic is of my 40 year old Quiet Advancer [pic 003], I call it a MK2 as I made the tail surfaces a little different, a full flying tailplane and a lower wider balanced fin and rudder. It has been said it was a copy of the Gentle Lady, but things like a two piece wing, and the leading edge sheeting are different lengths, wing mounting is different too, the way the bands are used. I was proud of this picture as I had landed within 20cm of the spot with an almost perfect flight time for this round of the Millennium Cup comp. Have had to replace all of the covering, the rudder hinges (Dubro hinges become brittle after 39 years of service). Hope to get a few more years flying out of her. Cheers,

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
