Quote: "Steve ...in addition, I am including a pdf of the 1950's RC version of the Thermic 100 (oz1573) which is not in the Outerzone database. Thanks for all you do! Jim Zare."
Quote: "My first attempt at A RC glider was a Jetco Nordic with an escapement. It had one flight and a crash. Fellow newcomer to the hobby Dave Leach, told me about a larger glider suitable for RC. This was the Frank Zaic plan for the Thermic 100. This was the Model Plan Service RC version, not the Pod and Boom.
I calculated the material requirements and sent off an order to Sig for the balsa, spruce and Sig Aliphatic resin. Super Monokote in transparent red had just hit the market so I covered the model with the new covering using my mothers iron. At the Toledo show in 1970 I was able to purchase a Controlaire 3 channel radio with two servos.
The first fights were hand towed by my brother Gary. I used a whistle to let him know when to stop running. I then fabricated a power-pod with a Cox 09 and had many successful flights include a week-long stay in a tree..."
Note see Thermic 100 (oz1573) for the early 1940s Thermic 100 plan, including wing and ribs.
See also Thermic 75E (oz16266) for Jim Zare's modern revised version at reduced scale.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
