About this Plan

Cessna 182 Centurion. Radio control scale model. Wingspan 1440 mm, for 15 to 25 engines.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Hi, Steve and Mary. Here there is a new plan "resucited" from the old Spanish magazine "RC Model". Now it's the turn for the "Cessna 182 'Centurion'", a RC trainer for .19 engine designed by Juan Carlos Sanchez Domenech, and published on the number 14 (April 1982) of the magazine. As usual I send the plan enlarged to full size, the construction article, plus the redraw in vector PDF and both vector CAD formats DWG and DXF.

By the way, and before people start to write about it in the comments. It's true, the name of the model is wrong: the Cessna 182 is the "Skylane", the "Centurión" is the Cessna 210. Maybe it was a mistake from the designer, but I chose to keep the original name.
Greetings, from your friend.

    ScaleType: This (oz16262) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_182_Skylane
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

I'd say this "semi-scale" model more closely resembles a later variant of the 210 Centurion (with its retractable gear "extended" for landing). It has a cantilever, straight-taper wing. This configuration was in production at the time the article was published. Compare to all variants of the 182/Skylane, which have wing struts and the more common Cessna wing planform that is tapered outboard of the strut! One could even suggest this model looks somewhat like a 177 Cardinal, but the horizontal tail is shaped wrong. Oh well, just call it a generic "Cessna."

I fully agree. This very well designed model is far away from any Cessna, starting with the name, The 182 has always being named SKYLANE, ever since it started production in 1956. The shapes and outlines of this model are not even close to the typical Cessna. As stated before the design is very well conceived but not as a scale or even semi-scale model.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
