Quote: "Hi Mary and Steve. I am attaching a copy of the Mercury Models Three Footer 36” solid balsa glider model plans and decal. I will send you pictures of the kit and parts separately.
As promised here are some pictures of the Three Footer kit. This might be somewhat of a rarity as the only thing I can find on the internet is a reference to an auction sale. I got it from the estate of a friend. The fuselage and tail boom parts were missing but I enlarged the plans and made templates and reproduced them. I plan on building it as a tribute to my friend. I’ll send pics when it’s done. Thanks for the good work you do! Dave Beazley"
Supplementary file notes

If you wanta build this one, it's pretty easy to get a full size plan, just print it at 200% in "tiles", will take 8 pages to paste together. Be sure to check "cut marks" to get the paste up straight. Finding a good light piece of 1/4" x 4" balsa might be difficult. You may have to order it from National Balsa. They offer light weight hand picked balsa. Tail is 1/8", also light balsa. Too bad SIG balsa no longer available.doug smith - 02/09/2025
A bit of caution about TILE PRINTING. I have repeatedly found that anything larger than 3x3 tiles induces distortions. By the time you get to 5 wide the next row below it won't line up. Less frustration if you just take the files to a print shopl

"Rarity" isn't the word. It's rarer than that.

I started with Mercury kits about 60 years ago. In all these years I never heard of this ‘Three Footer’!

Me too! But there it is in a box with the Mercury trademark logo on the front! As far as I'm aware the Three Footer was a kit produced by another British company - Skyleada - maybe they didn't register the design and therefore left themselves open to it being copied?

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
