Quote: "This is the MH (Montrose Hobbies) Albatross standard class R/C sailplane designed by Mark Levoe in 1974. The original model came with a plastic pod and fiberglass boom. Currently fiberglass pod and canopy are available from Dave Nutt dnutt2300@aol.com. The carbon boom from a Top Model Pegasus is a good fit (part #02090) Aloft hobbies in the USA and Top Model in CZ currently show them as available. The plan is a scale scan in PDF. Some areas of the plan are not crystal clear in how to proceed, thus this is probably not a good first model but not difficult either. It is a great flier!

I am wondering whether this Montrose Hobbies was the one operated by Craig Foxgord in Montrose California in the mid 80s. My first RC glider was built from an "Anser" kit sold by Montrose. Taught myself how to fly RC (somewhat) by hand tossing the glider on the Rose Bowl lawn and following it transmitter in hand. I'm no great shakes as a thermal (or any other) pilot by the Anser taught me to not get confused about "right or left" no matter whether the plane was flying towards or away from me.

Although not a T-tail, it reminds me a lot of of Tony Stark's gliders from those Rose Bowl days. I can't recall whether they even had spoilers, but they flew very well and Tony was always competitive, as was Craig. My Pasadena years were 1977-1980 and 2001-2002.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
