About this Plan

XP-2. Experimental pusher free flight model. Flying Aces, October 1937.

Note this is not a full size plan. This is a single page PDF with a low resolution plan.

Quote: "Experimental Gas-Powered Pusher Model.

THIS novel gas model, the XP-2, should prove a most popular flyer. The unusual pusher arrangement imparts very stable characteristics.

All bulkheads are of laminated 3/16 medium sheet balsa. The entire fuselage is planked with 1/8 x 3/8 balsa strips. The center section is built integrally with the fuselage, the spars running between the bulkheads. Booms are of 3/16 sheet and the truss of 3/32 sheet. The boom sockets - into which the booms slip and are held by friction - are of 1/4 in sheet balsa. Be sure, an accurate fit is obtained.

All wire used on landing gear is of .125 diam. Wing and tail ribs are 3/32 sheet balsa. Sheet covering on wing panels is 1/16 stock. The wing is full cantilever and attached to center-section at Point A. The fitting material is of 1/16 duralumin strips. Bolts, of 3/32 diam, should be of chrome nickel or vanadium steel. The wing bolts should run through brasswood blocks inserted between the spars. You'll like this Shereshaw ship, gas fans. So hop to it. "

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
