About this Plan
Beginner. Free flight towline glider model. Wingspan 987 mm.
Note this plan is derived from the raw scan found on the AF site. Cleaned up, corrected and aligned, now fullsize at 500 dpi, compact filesize.
Update 19/7/2025: Added sheet 2 with full build instructions. in both German and English, thanks to Doro.
Quote: "Preface: BEGINNER is a model glider conforming to contest class A-1 specifications and suitable for tow launching. Its construction can be mastered even by the rank beginner, since the kit is supplied with highly pre-fabricated parts. The performance of this model is excellent inspite of its small dimensions.
Building instructions: A straight and level board is required for the assembly of the model in addition to a few tools: a sharp knife (indent No.10), a few razor blades, a small hammer, small flat-jawed pliers, a rasp and - most important - several grades of sandpaper. The quickdrying cement supplied in the kit is most handy for all wood glueings, which can be quickly and positively mode with its help.
The assembly follows the sequence of the numbering of the parts. Start by carefully cutting out all die cut parts with the balsa knife or a razor blade, and by sawing out all printed parts with a scroll saw. Sand-all parts smooth. (see fig.1).
Fuselage: Assemble the fuselage on the fuselage bottom part (1), the two parts of which must be fitted over the plan at the intersection and cemented. Repeat this procedure for the two fuselage side panels (9). Cement part (5) to former (4) according to plan. Next follow the formers (2) -(8), with their keys locked into corresponding cut-outs of the fuselage bottom part (1).Use a triangle to ensure perfectly verticail seating of these parts..."

If anyone can add a scan of sheet #2, the reverse of the plan, showing exploded view and materials list, etc, that would be great.SteveWMD - 19/07/2025
J. Graupner had always 2 plan pages and a material list with his kits (as seen in the photo!). The second page includes instruction sketches and the material list defines measurements and sort of wood! Should be added if possible! I build several Graupner's in my childhood! I myself am a 1961 vintage ;)

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
