About this Plan

Messerschmitt Bf 109E. Control line stunt model. Wingspan 55 in.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Dear friends, I have the pleasure of sharing a design by Ignacio Gil Becerro, my father.

It is a Messer 109 Stunt for 35 engine for circular flight or line control as you like to say, it was designed and built in 1970. This model was inspired by the blueprint of Frank Warburton's Kawasaki Ki-61 Tony (oz2458) from the early sixties, also on Outerzone.

The Tony was built by my father in those years and you can see photos in the archive of this Outerzone collection and it was what inspired him to make the Messer after a few years.

The original plan drawn by him is the one that was published in the magazine AVION in October 1970 (see article supplement), I do not have that plan. In order not to be a draughtsman or draughtsman, he drew perfectly. The blueprint I can share is a scan of a copy of paper that is a little clear but enough to be able to build it. It is a plan copied by the dissemination of model airplane plans published at that time by the so-called General Directorate of Air Transport, Private and Sports Aviation section.

In the article published in the magazine AVION only one correction can be made. It is mentioned that the flap is cut in a 3 mm which is as indicated in the two plans, but it is a confusion, it must be 6 mm. And that the one in the photo with the comment ("Iñaki, another future great pilot") is me [pic 005], I don't know big, but the pilot thing was right.

I built one in '83 I modified it with a little dihedral on the wings. My modification was not very successful. I painted it exactly the same [pics 010, 011].

I am grateful to J. Abellán, living history of aeromodelling in Spain for the contribution of the archive of the AVION Magazine that I did not have. I asked him and in a matter of a few minutes he sent me the file that I can show you. Also to A. Rodríguez, assiduous in these contributions that has prompted me for the publication, who has built one and will share his photos.

I encourage anyone who likes it and builds it, share your photos with us on Outerzone."

Hola amigos! It's been a while since I've shared anything with the Outer Zone family. Today I have some time and some photos to send you [pics 012-016]. All of them are of plane oz16142, designed by Ignacio Gil Becerro, a well-remembered aeromodeler in Spain. His plan was published in Aeromodeller Annual, and it was only fair to make the model from the original plan. This is my version, and I can say it flies very well with an old Merco 35 in the nose. I haven't tried it performing aerobatics yet... let's wait for some time, and I'll tell you something.
In the meantime, all the photos, best regards,

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
