Angelique is an Australian designed Control Line Stunter by the late Ken Dowell. This 62" / 730 sq" / stunt model won the Aussie Nationals in 1963 & 1965; 2nd in 1971; and 3rd in 1964; plus, heaps of other competitions in Victoria in those years.

What's so special? It is sheet-covered wing rather than flimsy soft covering that drums and vibrates and it was powered by a Merco 35 with no muffler and just a little nitro to help with a 4-2-4 needle setting. Complex to build, with torsion u/c and compound-curved wing surface. Sheet joins are a bitch! When the motor stops, it glides, and glides, and glides some more. Angelique can do continuous “Lazy Horizontal figure eights” in the Glide, using a slight breeze and 180 degrees of the flying circle. Starting the eight directly into the wind.

The Designer - Ken Dowell: Started modelling in Victoria at the age of 8 and progressed through numerous models before winning aerobatics at the 1963 Nationals at Strathalbyn. His sleek Angelique design was used with success by several other aerobatics pilots in following years. Ken has not flown much since the mid 1960's. In his later years he developed his own Vicstunt website and moved to Gosford, NSW. Ken passed away in 2012. See: https://www.control-line.org.au/content/dkd/clmodels/rogues.html"

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
