About this Plan

Senior Skylark 80. Radio control sport aerobatic model. Wingspan 80 in.

The Skylark 56 (oz1842) was kitted by Goldberg in 1964. This here is a later enlarged CAD drawn plan from Early RC Models. Wingspan 80 in. Note this plan includes parts arranged for laser-cutting.

Note plan shows both single-engined and twin-engined layout.

Quote: "The Sr Skylark was actually designed by Carl Goldberg and Ed Sweeney that he flew in the US Nationals but never kitted. Said it would cost too much. John Wisniewski also help drawing up the plans and did some first test flying. He actually sent me a set of the original vellums! Here are a few pictures of my prototype [main pic, 003-006] that was built by no other that Dave Platt! Dave also built my first Falcon 56. Both in silk and dope!"

Note this plan appears here on Outerzone courtesy of the designer himself, Bob Harris of Early RC Models.

Note the primary drawing here is the CAD zip download (in dwg format). That's the file that Bob sent us, and that is his design, his work. The PDF file you see here is really just a taster, a PDF file in this slot for Oz users who don't have a CAD viewer.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

User comments

More than ten years ago I deeply searched info on this aircraft in my US magazines collection. It was said that some article appeared around 1964-65. Some article referement was wrong, I didn't found any article. The only interesting photo is in 1965 Sept-Oct showing a young Ed Sweeney with a model that could be a Sr Skylark, but it's not related to any comment on the text. (see photo) [pic 007]

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
