WING CONSTRUCTION: Layout the leading edge and trailing edge on the covered plan first. I never pin through the balsa but use pins on each side or use scraps of balsa and stick the pin through the scraps and stick the parts down. Once the Leading Edge (L.E.) and Trailing Edge (T.E.) are in place I use 1/16” sq balsa for the bottom of the rib, gluing them in place between the L.E. and T.E. Once these have dried , add the spars. I measure the high point between the high point of the airfoil and then taper the spar from this to the wingtip size (1/16”). Once the spars are glued and pinned in place to dry. Add the upper rib by using 1/16” sq strips for the upper part of the rib. Lay the strip against the L.E. as it rests on the main spar. Pin the rib L.E. to the wing L.E. with glue and gently bend the strip over the spar and bring it down to the wing T.E. and trim to fit tightly to the T.E. Then repeat for each rib. This is a quick and easy way to build strong and light ribs. Once these ribs are in place you can add 2 turbulator strip (1/16”sq) between the L.E. and the front spar which make the airfoil more rounded in the front. The wingtips are laminated from 1/13”x1/16” strips using 3 strips.
EMPENNAGE: These surfaces are built flat on the plan using the designated sizes of balsa strips . Pretty standary building construction.
FUSELAGE: The fuselage is built using the box style construction. Build the first side over the plans and once this has been built and has dried, build the second side of the fuselage box right over the first side. You can use saranwrap of etc. to cover the first side to keep them from sticking together. Remember good, strait, tight joints is important. This type of joint uses less glue and is very strong. Once the sides are dry start bring the sides together starting in the middle of the fuselage and once these are joined and pinned in place gently draw the tail sections together adding crossmembers. Using 90 degree triangles to keep the sides vertical.

ScaleType: This (oz16067) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrosini_S.7
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

Steve and Mary, I shrank the 24" span plans down to 13" span and built this as a Peanut. Here's some pictures [main pic, 003-007] of the finished model from my site stickandtissue.com in the Peanut scale section under Building Model Airplanes/Peanut Models. Here's the pictures. Thanks for your great site!!

What’s the orange model in the background? Mitsubishi Claude? Where are the plans from if there are any?
Gage Van Vranken - 07/06/2025
Yes Gage, on this site, see: https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=1418

Actually it's a John Berryman (wordguy) plan from HPA in the Builder's Plan Gallery: https://www.hippocketaeronautics.com/hpa_plans/details.php?image_id=3929
Claude "Sakai's Steed" It's free download but you need to register, which is free also. It was done for a cookup on HPA site.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
