Quote: "Originally intended for back yard flying, Spunky turned out to be an endurance model of the first order. Using one hundred turns, it is simple to achieve flights of 45 seconds to one minute in an ordinary school yard (I know because I tried it in a school yard in my neighborhood. With one hundred and fifty turns, Spunky hooked a ground riser for a flight of approximately 4-1/2 minutes, never leaving the school grounds. At about the three-minute mark, I received a tap on the shoulder and the request to get 'that thing' down. It was the school principal and he pointed out something I hadn't noticed: half the school population hanging out the windows watching the flight - Model Editor.)

Any more than one hundred turns requires a fairly good-sized field where flights of one to two minutes will not result in roof top landings.

Construction: The sheet balsa body is simple to make and requires only a little patience when selecting the sheet balsa covering. All parts in the plans are full size, so cut them out and cement them to stiff cardboard. Use these as templates to lay out the body covering and the formers. As some of the covering skin is about 5 inches wide, glue two 3 in wide 1/16 sheets together, and allow to dry. When dry, trace templates A, B, C on these sheets and cut out.

The fuselage frame consists of an inverted T frame with formers glued to the bottom of the T frame..."
