Quote: "Building Instructions, Wolfi. This RC glider was specially developed for the less experienced model pilot. Its simple, time-saving design and exceptionally smooth flight characteristics make it the ideal introductory model to RC gliding. Due to its very stable construction, even 'stick landings' are usually survived without damage. Its elegant lines, trunk-friendly dimensions, and excellent flight performance for a model of this size have already earned it a good reputation as a 'second model' for experts.

The model can be assembled easily by following the instructions below. We will begin with the Hull:

First, we use a jigsaw to cut out hull frames 3, 4, and 5 as precisely as possible and sand them with sandpaper. To check, we place them on the corresponding drawing in the blueprint.

We now pin the hull bottom 1 to a straight, unwarped construction board (approx. 120 x 50 cm, blockboard or hardboard). It is recommended that you cover the construction board with a thin plastic sheet beforehand to prevent it from sticking. Using the construction plan, we mark the exact position of frames 3, 4 and 5 on the hull bottom 1 with a soft pencil. Now the lower reinforcement strips 2 are glued exactly flush with the side edges of the hull bottom (white glue) and secured with pins..."

It might be better to change "Rodel" to "Roedel". This is the usual way to transcribe the german "ö" as in the original brand name "Rödel" into languages that don´t have these diacritic marks. A "Rodel" is a southern german name for a children's sleigh.

Fair enough. It is a good point. But because the site search here on Oz is very basic (it just compares raw text strings) that would mean a search for "Rodel" would then not return any plans from "Roedel". Which is not ideal. But you do have a point.

Where does the "Wagner" come from? Isn't it "Wolfgang Rodel" (still skipping the 'ö', though)

The above aside, this is an interesting plan. Thanks for uploading it. WR obviously was quite an able designer. I haven't seen a prettier, more grown Jedelsky type beginner model so far.

Ah, I am not at all sure where I got the name Wagner from. Ok done, have set this now as designer Wolfgang Rodel. Many thanks.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
