About this Plan

DG-100. Radio control scale model sailplane. Wingspan 3750 mm. Scale is 1/4.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Hi there! Here is another beautiful bird from Robbe. The DG100 was new 1976. It’s my year of birth, so we decided to bring this beauty back into flying life.

Two big sheets of construction plan. One show the fuse the other the wing and elevator construction. The elevator is all-flying horizontal stabilizer. The plane is a great scale construction shown with a retractable landing gear and speed brakes.

Feel free and publish it at your website. I also have a full copy of the German manual [30 pages, with pics, complete].

Quote (google-translated): "General description: At the end of 1973, Glaser-Dirks-Flugzeugbau GmbH in Bruchsal began designing a new standard-class glider. The DG-100 performance glider was a further development of the D-38. The first prototype was flown in September 1974 and approved for series production.

The fuselage of the DG-100 is a pure GRP shell with three resin-embedded GRP profiles to support the heavily tapered section behind the wing.

The low-slung canopy provides the pilot with excellent visibility.

Large, upwardly extending Schempp-Hirth airbrakes made of light alloy serve as landing aids and to limit the final speed. The cockpit, which received the greatest attention, can be equipped with either a small or a large instrument cluster. The parallelogram control for the pendulum elevator dampens unwanted stick movement in strong gusts. The parachute tub is designed for either manual or automatic deployment, and a new feature is a pneumatically continuously adjustable backrest.

The wheel well for the retractable monowheel landing gear is completely enclosed. The fuselage's high ground clearance is striking, giving the glider a high angle of attack.

Not only the appealing shape, but also the "inner qualities," flight performance, and flight characteristics prompted us to recreate this glider type in 1:4 scale.

General instructions for the construction process: The numbering of the individual components essentially corresponds to the order of the construction process described in the instructions.

Please read the entire assembly instructions carefully before beginning construction. In conjunction with the parts and materials list and the construction plan, obtain a precise overview of the type and purpose of the various components and the construction process itself before beginning work:

The construction plan for the fuselage, vertical and horizontal stabilizer, and wing, including their side and top views and cross-sections, should be used for assembly. To protect the plans from damage by glue, a thin, transparent polyethylene film overlay must be used. If this is not available as a larger section, separated packaging bags will suffice.

A photo sheet is located in the center of this brochure. The individual illustrations provide you with further visual information about the current assembly status. Detach this photo sheet from the booklet and place it next to the blueprint and assembly instructions. This will save you from constantly flipping pages.

The blueprint included with the assembly kit is drawn to a scale of 1:1 and is used as a construction guide for the wings, fuselage, and tail.

The materials list is presented as a table. It indicates the parts list number for the boards, strips, and cut pieces, etc. included in the kit.

An example: The 4 x 15 x 660 balsa strip is included in the kit. The parts, part numbers 128 and 129, are made from this strip..."

ScaleType: This (oz15985) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaser-Dirks_DG-100
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Thanks for the upload, it's a very nice addition to the robbe collection (as is the Marabu 6 b.t.w.)

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
