Lockheed L-133 Starjet (oz15921)
About this Plan
Lockheed L-133 Starjet. Free flight scale model for rubber power. Wingspan 27 in.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "Steve and Mary, I've drawn two new plans for this year 2025 and wanted to send them for posting to your site... 2nd is the Lockheed design project L-133 Starjet.
The Lockheed L-133 was an exotic design started in 1939 which was proposed to be the first jet fighter of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II. The radical design was to be powered by two axial-flow turbojets with an unusual blended wing-body canard design capable of 612 mph (985 km/h) in level flight. The USAAF rejected the 1942 proposal, but the effort speeded the development of the USAAF's first successful operational jet fighter, the P-80 Shooting Star, which did see limited service near the end of war. The P-80 was a less radical design with a single British-based Allison J33 engine, with a conventional tail.

ScaleType: This (oz15921) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-133
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

My apologies for not setting the suggested CG of the L-133 on the plan. I've since used a Canard CG calculator found on the web to place the CG on the revised plan. Here's a link to this https://freeflightarchive.com/images/plans/sky9pilot_plans/lock... or Steve or Mary can download the revised plan in place of the original. Thanks and Regards, Tom Akery/Sky9pilotTom Akery - 28/03/2025
Aha, got it, have grabbed the new version now, and replaced the plan here so it includes the CG. Many thanks.

My grandfather used to tell me stories about those Starjets. He would tell me about the nose art names he saw on them. He often said to me the “Wizard of Outerzone” was his favorite. “Yah Grandpa, that would have been my favorite too!” …But seriously, “Wizard of Oz” on this bird would be pretty cool to see as the design work on this bird began in the year that the movie was released (1939). The design was formally submitted in 1942. …And yes, I did wait a couple days to post this on the 1st of April. …Oh yah, and I recall Grandpa telling me of another nose art name he saw: “Flying Monkey”

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
