Sipa 200 Mini Jet (oz15857)
About this Plan
Sipa 200 Mini Jet. Radio control scale model, for electric ducted fan (EDF). Wingspan 24 in.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "Dear Steve, find enclosed pictures and construction work of the Sipa 200 Mini Jet.
Original design is the SIPA 200 Minijet (oz1655) by Brian Lewis from Aeromodeller in 1953. It was originally FF and Jettex, I made the redesign for RC: elevator & 1 of 2 rudders and throttle for the impeller.
To get all going so light as possible I printed the fuselage in resin, see enclosed files and build a mould. The fibre fuselage was made of 7 !!! layers 25gr glas: So the fuselage was super light and unter 30gr, including the frame and glass and magnetics it comes with 35gr. Ductings for the impeller were made the positive way with lost foam mastermoulds, tail parts were all lasered from Balsa, and the wing from foam.
In the end it came out with a take-off Weight 268gr /9,45 OZ and a flight time with the 1250 2s Lipo will be 5-6min @ 100% throttle!!! 60cm wing span is 24 inch like the original Brian Lewis design.
Summer can start soon, with the best flights in front of us. Cheers, Matze"

Note this is a complex project, and so there is no simple conventional plan here, with eg fuselage formers etc. This project involves a lot of CAD design, 3D printing and moulds. Building the fuselage requires creating a mould from the STP file and then using that mould to form two half-shells in fibreglass. See STP files and DXF cad files for more details.

ScaleType: This (oz15857) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIPA_S.200_Minijet
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

Nice work!Hubert - 20/02/2025
... and a good inspiration for (hopefully) more Jetex conversions

This is very beautiful work. It demonstrates what can be achieved, if a modeller is prepared to push the boundaries of what is possible.

What a magnificent creation!

When I read the designer and model size in the thumbnail, I thought Matthias had seen the light and made a small, simple model. I was half right: it is indeed a small model, but a fully engineered one. This goes to show once again that you can take the engineer out of the design office, but you can't take the design office out of the engineer. :-)

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
