The Summer Breeze is a modeller's model which is both satisfying to build and satisfying to fly. Although primarily designed to take the rough and tumble of slope soaring it is also a good performer on the flat when operated from a towline or bungy. The all built-up construction features a ply-sided / balsa fuselage, a simple all sheet tailplane and a sturdy, two piece 'D' box polyhedral wing with spruce spars, spar webbing and capping strips.

Here is a photo of the finished Summer Breeze that I built [main pic] from an original Stan Yeo kit that was listed on Ebay. In my opinion it is the best ever traditional wooden 2m rudder/elevator controlled soarer. Its ability to remain airborne in the most marginal of conditions is quite uncanny, and yet it's rugged enough to throw off a windy hill and go looping and stall-turning all over the sky. I would probably add airbrakes if I built another. Cheers,Russell H - 20/02/2025

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
