Top Cat (oz15830)
About this Plan
Top Cat. Radio control aerobatic slope soarer model. Wingspan 57 in.
Quote: "Top Cat Ref: SM0018: The Top Cat is a 57 in full house, aerobatic slope soarer originally designed with a mechanical mixer to combine flaps and ailerons! Very succesfull at the time.
The Top Cat was a follow on design from the Pedro which was published as a plan in Radio Modeller. It was unique at the time as it featured coupled flap and elevator mixing via a simple mechanical mixer to enhance looping manoeuvres (the outside loops were amazing!). Top Cat enjoyed success at a number of slope aerobatic competitions.
Construction, as was the norm in the early 70s consisted of a built up wing and a ply reinforced balsa fuselage. Sorry no picture but we would like one!
Specification:
Span: 57ins
Control: Ailerons (flaperons) / Elevator / Rudder
Av Weight: 2lb 4ozs

Hi to everbody who like to build this plane. As with Jezebel (oz15756) and Scorpio 450 (oz15802), there is obviously a typo on the PMP website. The correct name of the airfoil should be Go459 instead of Go549.Greetings Martin Huebner

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
