Me 323 Gigant (oz15737)
About this Plan
Me 323 Gigant. Radio control scale model, for electric power with 6x Speed 280 motors. Wingspan 1666 mm.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Note sheet #3, photo instructions, is a supplement file.
Quote (google-translated): "The semi-scale model ME 323 GIGANT, scale 1:33, is suitable for use with 6 SPEED 280 electric motors and 7 or 8 NC cells with 1.4 Ah, of the size specified below. The model can be started from a smooth runway on the ground; if no suitable runway is available, a hand start is also possible. During the flight, the engine power must be reduced; this prevents the electric motors from being overloaded and ensures a realistic flight pattern.
Safety instructions
It is essential to read and follow the safety instructions included with the kit. If the model is passed on or sold once it has been fully built, the safety instructions and the assembly instructions must be included. To build and operate the model, the model builder must have several years of experience in building and operating similar electric models such as the JU 52 (order no. 6204).
The model is not suitable for model aircraft pilots under 16 years of age.

Special instructions for assembly
Before construction begins, the necessary accessories, especially the drive set, should be available so that the parts can be fitted in the appropriate construction phases. If necessary, trim the punched parts with a sharp balsa knife. Some punched parts are made of several parts and must be glued. Check the shape accuracy using the blueprint. Before gluing or gluing, adjust the parts first and check that they fit exactly, drilling if necessary.
The planking (111), (113), (114) and (140) are included in the kit as balsa boards.
The rudder hinges (99) are included in double size; they must be cut in the middle.
Before gluing, the sequence of the following construction phase should already be considered. If there are any uncertainties, clarify them first using the blueprint, parts list and instructions.
If necessary, hold the parts in position during the gluing phase using pins, construction clips, construction weights or adhesive tape. Allow sufficient drying times. The flight performance and the typical slow flight characteristics of this model depend on the lowest possible flight weight. It should therefore be built to save weight.
Before construction continues, the adhesive on the parts that have already been glued must be allowed to harden.
The order of construction is mainly based on the part numbering. You can deviate from this order at your own discretion, or different assemblies can be built in parallel. During the gluing breaks, prepare the parts for the following construction phases. Unless otherwise stated, carry out gluing work with UHU hard or superglue.
Fuselage
1. Cut out the fuselage floor (1) for the frame (20), glue on the reinforcement strips (1a).
2. Cut out the groove strips (3) for the undercarriage bracket (2). Glue on the groove strips with the undercarriage bracket inserted. Use the side reinforcements (4) as a template for the position of the groove strips (3).
3. Make the two fuselage side parts from parts (4) to (17). Make sure that the longitudinal straps (6) and (8) are firmly glued to the struts and diagonals.
4. Tack the fuselage bottom on and glue the frames (18), (19) and (20) together with the side parts. Make absolutely sure that the side parts are exactly vertical and line up exactly at the end part (7)..."

ScaleType: This (oz15737) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Me_323_Gigant
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
