Das Cerberus (oz15715)
About this Plan
Das Cerberus. Radio control triplane model, for 3x .19 to .25 engines.
Note this is not a plan for a complete airframe. This is a plan showing how to modify the original Das Ugly Stick (oz5175) design, by building it upside down and then adding 2 more engines, creating a low-wing triplane.
Note this here is currently the best copy of the plan we have, greyscale at 240 dpi. The plan appeared in Airborne magazine 1981, a time when paper print quality was terrible (see article file). If anyone out there has a clearer scan of this plan, we'd love to see it.

Quote: "G'day Steve and Mary. Following recent discussion on RC Groups about a Twin Stik I remembered my tri-motor low wing version that I designed when I was a bit younger.
With 3 x OS Max .25's I christened it 'Das Cerberus' after the three headed dog that guarded the gates of hell. Well it actually was not a dog but flew very well as I used the throttle stick to control the wing engines and a separate servo channel (on a Tx slider) to control the nose engine.
This meant that if I lost power from a wing engine it was simply a matter of throttling back the other wing engine and opening up the nose engine which enabled the model to be flown safely.
In fact, the model in the photo was flown in some r/c streamer combat events (three props eat a lot of streamers). Once when I lost a wing engine the other flyers lined up for an easy kill - until I closed the nose engine throttle, gunned the remaining wing engine and Das Cerberus pirouetted on the spot and the hunters became the hunted ??
Probably easiest to use an Ugly Stik plan for the basic dimensions and incorporate my modifications."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
